The 2012 Mazda5 was named to the “Best Family Cars of 2012” list by the editors of Edmunds.com and Parents magazine.
This is the fifth consecutive year that automotive experts from Edmunds.com, a leading online resource for car buyers, and Parents, America’s #1 family magazine, have collaborated on the 15-vehicle list. Vehicles were chosen based on performance, interior and exterior styling, and family features, with the most scrutinized attributes being safety and reliability.
Just in time for summer top-down driving, the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) has named the Mazda MX-5 Miata its 2012 Favorite Fun Entry-Level Convertible.
For more than 20 years, the MX-5 Miata has offered sports car enthusiasts a pure, uncomplicated and fun-focused roadster at an affordable price. Sticking to that simple concept has made the MX-5 the most popular two-seat convertible sports car in the world with more than 900,000 units produced, qualifying it as a Guinness World Record holder.
The gorgeous Mazda Takeri concept made its U.S. debut at the New York Auto Show, and you’ll want to take another close look at it: it will “strongly influence” the 2014 Mazda6 that we’ll see at the Paris Motor Show later this year. The next Mazda6 will also follow the Mazda CX-5 in the company’s lineup of SkyActiv vehicles.
In spite of the 2014 model year, the 6 will go on sale during Q1 of 2013 and will feature the SkyActiv 2.0-liter gas engine that shifts through a six-speed auto or six-speed manual. Mazda says it is gunning to post class-leading fuel economy figures.
Mazda announced that it has extended its naming rights agreement for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) for another five years. The agreement was ratified by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors and extends the two organizations’ relationship, which began in 2001, through 2016. The world-famous Monterey, California facility is home to one of the finest natural road-racing courses in the world, and has been a mainstay of professional auto and motorcycle racing since 1957.
Mazda’s support has helped enable SCRAMP, operators of the Raceway, and Monterey County to make Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca one of the finest racing facilities in the world. Over the past decade, the circuit has received such major improvements as permanent pit lane garages, permanent luxury hospitality suites and expanded track runoff areas, plus spectator enhancements ranging from a new scoring trylon with hi-definition monitors to radar-controlled speed signs over the track’s two straightaways.
The all-new 2013 Mazda CX-5 was recently announced as one of WardsAuto‘s 10 Best Interiors. A newcomer to the compact crossover SUV segment, CX-5 boasts the best highway fuel economy – even against hybrids – of any SUV sold in North America at 35 miles per gallon (mpg). Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to extend production of the Mazda RX-8 SPIRIT R by 1,000 units. Mazda initially intended to make 1,000 units of the special edition four-door, four-seat rotary engine sports car, but will extend production due to a large number of orders.
Sales of the RX-8 SPIRIT R, the final special edition model, were launched in November of 2011.
Mazda’s TAKERI Concept made its North American debut at the 2012 New York International Auto Show, and is the brand’s first concept vehicle to feature the SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine as well as other revolutionary Mazda-developed, fuel-saving technologies such as i-stop, a stop-start system, and i-ELOOP, a regenerative braking system.

Mazda Motor Corporation today has announced that the all-new Mazda CX-5 for the US market has been named a “Top Safety Pick” for 2012, the highest possible safety rating, by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in their crashworthiness tests.
The IIHS evaluation methods include: frontal offset test for a vehicle driving at 40 mph (approximately 64km/h), side impact test for a vehicle driving at 31mph (50km/h), rear crash protection for a vehicle driving at 20mph (32km/h) and roof strength test to determine a vehicles’ protection performance as: “Good”, “Acceptable”, “Marginal” or “Poor” based on deformation of the vehicle and the performance of the safety equipment. A vehicle qualifies a Top Safety Pick if the vehicle earns a “Good” rating in all four tests.
Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today announced the “MyMazda” Service app for Mazda owners with Android-compatible devices. The app is now available for download at the Google Play Store, formerly known as the Android Market.
“MyMazda,” already available on iTunes, was one of the first automotive apps of its kind to provide Mazda owners with real-time information about their vehicle. The free “MyMazda” app provides easy access to service offers personalized to their vehicle, scheduled maintenance reminders, factory maintenance schedules and other information about their vehicle in one simple app.
