Mazda CX-5 Crossover Revealed in Frankfurt

Mazda’s all-new compact crossover debuted in Frankfurt, Germany this week. The new generation crossover will boast the automaker’s new SKYACTIV powertrain technology, which promising sportiness and fuel-efficiency.

The new crossover will be available with new gasoline and diesel engines, mated to all new manual and automatic transmissions. Its new 2.0-liter direct injection engine will feature 165 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque.

The CX-5’s average fuel consumption, with the front-wheel drive and manual transmission, is 47.1 mpg (based on European testing cycle) and 139g/km CO2 emissions for the gasoline engine. The diesel unit will have 62.8mpg and 119g/km.

The compact crossover segment is somewhat new territory for Mazda, but the CX-5 looks to be a competitive offering. Stay tuned for more details.
