Mazda has finally released pricing on the updated 2012 Mazda3, which features the automaker’s all-new SKYACTIV powertrain technology. The base Mazda3 i SV sedan now carries an MSRP of $15,200. This model comes equipped with the previous generation 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s good for 148-horsepower.

Stepping up to the Mazda3 i Touring — priced from $18,450 — will give drivers the chance to sample the all-new SKACTIV 2.0-liter engine. This four-cylinder engine is EPA-rated to achieve 40 mpg on the highway.

Both the Mazda3 sedan and hatchback will receive a either a new six-speed manual or, a new six-speed automatic transmission. The latter will cost $850 extra.

The range-topping Mazdaspeed3 will feature the same 263 horsepower 2.3-liter engine as before, and it will be priced from $24,000.

“The Mazda3 is the core of the Mazda line-up and continues to be the standard by which all other compact cars are measured,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO. “Because of the importance of this critical vehicle to Mazda sales success, we chose to debut our revolutionary SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY in Mazda3, as well as bring the i SV model to market at a lower starting MSRP than the previous year.”
